Our French Language Program takes students from a complete beginner level through NCLC 7, for students building a language skill and for adult learners working toward Canadian Express Entry immigration pathways that award points for French proficiency.
Starting a new language as an adult, or building it up to an advanced functional level, is a different challenge than most people expect — it's not just vocabulary, but real conversational ability under time pressure, which is exactly what immigration-pathway proficiency levels like NCLC measure. Progress needs to be structured and measurable, not open-ended, especially when a specific proficiency level is tied to a concrete goal like Express Entry points.
Instruction is built around the student's current level and target NCLC level, with a clear sense of progress along the way rather than an open-ended "eventually you'll get there." The outcome is a measurable, real gain in French proficiency — reaching the level the student actually needs, whether that's for immigration eligibility or simply genuine conversational ability.
